London Meetup Review

clan real-world

My wife and I returned back to Munich last night after a three night, four day trip to London. Believe it or not, our primary goal was to meet with a few fellow Rat Blastards.

First up on Thursday night was Colin and his wonderful wife Paula, who came in from Northern Ireland and were staying in the same hotel with us. We hooked up in the early evening for dinner and drinks, and ended up haunting the our hotel lounge until the wee hours. Sadly or prudently, we were lax in taking pictures at this point, so you'll have to take my word for it. You'll also have to believe me when I say I immediately felt like I was in the presence of family.

Friday night we were joined by Ant and his delightful wife Alex. Once again we did dinner and drinks, followed by bowling, and lingered until late at our hotel lounge. But we remembered to take pictures this time.

On our last night in London, we were joined by André. I had some surprises up my sleeve for when I knew I had the largest audience. I snuck away and did a quick change before I presented gifts.

Surprise!

I had prepared, long in advance, this gag. In case you can't remember the clown outfit I wear in the game, here's a comparison.

Opting for no armor or weapons, because vacation

Which leads me to one of my favorite pictures of the trip:

The bartender pretended really well that I didn't look like a crazy person.

Nothing to see here

I handed out squishy rubber rats to all the attendees. With cheese.

The theme of the whole event was this – it's not the game, it's the people: the laughter, the honesty, and the connection to something genuine and heartfelt. This is why we have this clan. And it's why I am glad you are all a part of it.

I look forward with all my heart to future meetups.
